Pintertest Kitchen 4: Galaxy PlayDoh

So I lied to you.

No glue gun.

But good news!

No fire department either.

I wimped out on the super crafty.

And went kid's arts and crafty.

I compose this post surrounded in glitter and glittered Play-Doh.

On my face.

In my hair.

On the table.

Embedded in the crevices of the table.

On the chairs.

In the carpet.

I'm not a big fan of Play-Doh in the wintertime.

You know?  Indoors.

In case there was any question.

I've also just learned that I'm not a huge fan of glittered Play-Doh ever.

But both girls love it.

So I took one for the team this month.

And so did my carpet.

2 cups flour
2 cups water dyed with black and blue food coloring
1 tbsp. cooking oil
1 tbsp. cream of tartar
1 cup salt

Heat colored water and oil in large pan.
Add dry ingredients.
Stir often.
Mixture will turn to dough rather quickly.
Let cool in separate container, add glitter and knead until it reaches desired consistency.

Original recipe/pin found here.

Ours looks different than the original for a few reasons.

I could not find black food coloring so I mixed red, yellow, blue and green.

Also, we probably needed to add more glitter.

But me and my table crevices are done with glitter.

For a while.

So... what have you been up to?

Grab a button.

Link up below and tell me all about it!

  1. Thanks for hosting this. I am always excited to see it come up on my reader. I host a Wednesday Pinterest favorites...that is still open, and your post here would be wonderful to link up on that. If you want, come on over :). Maybe we should cohost the Pinterest link party...seriously, what do you think?

  4. That stuff looks really neat! Play doh is always a "let's
save that for Nana's house" kind of thing around here! Haha

My link up is on here twice, sorry, I thought it didn't work the first time bc I did it from my phone, but I guess it did!

  7. as much as i love your table set (how could i not, we have the same chairs) i totally feel terrible for you and those crevices. it would drive me crazy. thank you for being a parenting guinea pig for me....when i have children i'll know to get a crevice free table. thank you. you took one for the team on that one.

  8. I have a crevice-y table too,
therefore glitter playdoh will NEVER make an appearance here now.
    Thank you for the PSA.

    {looks fun though!}

my kids are dying to play with play doh but its banned from our house until they can do it outside. i will definitely be doing this in the summer when they can do it on the patio.

  11. What a good mom you are! I almost made that as Christmas gifts to my daycare kids but chose the version without glitter instead. The parents thanked me ;) Is there a way to make it smell better though? I couldn't stand the smell of the homemade playdough.
